Why You Shouldn't Root Your Android Phone

Rooting a mobile phone has some benefits as well as its disadvantages even if it gives you more control of your phone. This is due to the complexities associated with rooting your devices expecially devices that runs on android 6.0 Marshmallow and above. Also phone's that uses processors other than MTK processors like the Qualcomm Snapdragon is often difficult to root using simple tool like Kingroot. The risk is even worse if it is not done by a professional. Some of the risks are highlighted below

Phone data may be lost

When you root your phone, you will be resetting it to the factory settings. This means that you will lose all the data that you have on your phone including contacts, downloaded apps , pictures, videos, etc. You will be able to backup text messages and your gallery files with the help of apps, cloud syncing or by copying to your PC. Those can be easily restored. What you won't be able to backup is your app data.

Exposes your phone to security risks

Rooting exposes your device to unauthorised access, data leaks and theft, as well as hardware failure among others. Thus, if you have sensitive information on your phone, do not root it.

Voids the phone's warranty

Manufacturers will not welcome warranty claims for devices tampered with by their customers. That includes both hardware and software changes, the latter of which includes root. So if rooting goes wrong, you may need to get another phone.

Can cause update issues

One of the issues related to rooting android is performing updates. Updates may fail to install due to software changes that occur while the phone has been rooted. Being unable to update your phone makes it susceptible to hackers. They will have a field day stealing your information.

Rooting never goes wrong

A tech guy may find the process of rooting android phones very easy. But if you are a learner or beginner, there is a 99% of you to damage your phone if you attempt to root it yourself expecially those who are always in a hurry not to read full instructions before carrying out the rooting process. For me, Kingroot is one of the best app for rooting android phones. The process is very simple and anyone can do it, if you try using Kingroot and doesn't work for you, you should just forget about rooting or if you still fancy rooting you should follow instructions step by step so as not to brick your phone.

Sometimes, if you follow the right step but download the wrong rooting files, it may brick your device. The fault won't be from you but maybe the file that was uploaded was corrupted ,so flashing a corrupted file to your phone will damage it.

Next will be the advantages of rooting your device, so at the end of the day you will have to weigh both the pros and the cons to decide if your mobile phone is worth rooting.

What are MTK, MediaTek Android Devices

Mtk, Mediatek Android Devices.jpg
Have you ever read a post, especially those related to tech where the writer uses the word " MediaTek or MTK devices" and you wonder what the writer is talking about?. I wrote a post about Android IMEI tweaking where I wrote that the procedure works only on MTK devices and some persons got confused about it saying they dont know what MTK means. You will get the right answers at the end of this article.
MTK is the short form for MediaTek which is a leading Android device CPU manufacturer.
During the advent of the Android OS, leading companies like google, Samsung, HTC etc where the only companies that produced Android devices that run on Android OS  and their Chipsets(CPU or processor) were manufactured using US Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset.
Currently, Google which is the main developers of the Android OS started giving licenses to other companies, this was how companies like MediaTek keyed into that and now produce their own Android device chipsets ( used in techno, Infinix, Gionee, Innjoo etc) different from the Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset which devices like Samsung, Sony, Lg etc uses.
Devices  with MediaTek chipsets are easily penetrable using simple android tools like kingroot, mobile uncle etc compared to devices that uses Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets.
List of Some MTK devices
• Techno
• Infinix
• Gionee
• Innjoo
• Huawei
• Hitachi
• Alcatel
• Imose
• Yusun
• Itel
• THL
• Chuwi
• xiomi
• Gigabyte
• Obi
• Wiko
• Pipo
• Oppson
• Zte
• Phillips
• Jiayu
• Oppo
• Elephon ..    etc
What about Samsung, Lg and SONY phones that has MTK processors?
These are not original products, they may be cloned devices. Most Devices like Samsung, HTC, Sony,Lg does not run on MediaTek chipsets. Only devices like Tecno, Infinix , Gionee uses MediaTek chipsets.
How do I know original devices?
By using an application called CPU z which can be downloaded here
• install the CPU-Z and lunch it
• you will see your all your device hardware information
• the SOC menu will show you  the chip and model of your device written at the top of the screen.
• the system menu shows the hardware component. The models with MTK devices always start with "Mt" prefix. So if your Samsung device starts with Mt , it means its fake.

Android IMEI Tweaking

android.jpg

If you use a MediaTek (MTK) Android device such as Tecno, Infinix, wiko , Gionee...etc then today is your lucky day because I will be teaching you a trick through which you can get unlimited amount of data and also use Glo BIS of N1400 for 3gig by changing your Android imei if you are smart enough and my guess is "You are quite smart, right?"

With this trick you can kiss buying data plans goodbye, truth be told I haven't bought a single data plan for months now and I have never for once lacked Data(megabytes).
How did you do it? You may ask,its simply  By tweaking m  imei!!

By tweaking, I mean changing my imei number. By changing your imei number you are able to enjoy Unlimited data opportunities.

Let me explain this process with an example.

In Nigeria,  by last year, when you purchase an Infinix Hot Note you are entitled to 2015MB from Mtn, If you don't want to buy the device but you also want to enjoy the 2015mb, all you have to do is change the IMEI Number of your android  phone to that of an Infinix Hot Note and then you Send the assigned command and you will get the 2015MB.

Let me explain how this is possible;

IMEI simply means International Mobile-Station Equipment Identity.

Every mobile phone and modem have a unique 15-digit Imei Number, It's just like finger prints of a phone. No two phones have the same Imei Number, but phones of the same brand usually having the same starting sequence.

For example, All Infinix hot note imei start with 358429063 that is what I call the identification number. So when you change your  imei number to something like "3584290630360721" and send the command. When Mtn or any other telecom company which we plan to trick sees the identification number which is "358429063" their computer assume you use a hot note and you are given your data.

Now I believe you understand how Imei works, So let's go on to the process of changing your  android phone imei number

How To Change Imei Number

To do this we need to install two apps.

Imei Analyser Imei analyzer apk

MTK engineering mode MTK engineering mode and download
or you can google the apps and download them from other sites
First we start with the imei analyser.

The imei is a very delicate number so you can't just randomly generate numbers and tweak them, you should first analyse it.

This is how its done;

Let me use the infinix hot note example again.

First we get the identifying number of the phone we want to change to.

"358429063" the first nine digits of an imei number are the legit numbers the rest can be tweaked but do not change the first nine digits.

After getting the first nine, you randomly add any 5 numbers.

So we have 14 digits now. "35842906312345" remaining one more number.

This last number is called the "check digit" so it cannot be randomly added.
If you do, you'll end up having a bogus imei number that doesn't work.

This is where the Imei Analyser comes to play.

Now open your Imei Analyser and input the 14 numbers we have gotten into the box provided. And click analyse.

It will analyze it and give you the complete imei number including the check digit.

After you've gotten the full imei, write it down, close imei Analyser and open MTK engineering mode.

After opening MTK engineering Mode

click on MTK Setting

Then, swipe your screen to the left to view more options.

Then select CDS Information

Then select radio information.

Then select phone 1 if you want to change the imei for SIM1
or phone 2 for sim 2

press E on your keypad it will drop down some options, for sim 1 select AT+EGMR =1,7,""

For sim 2 AT+EGMR=1,10,""

After that put the new imei between the "" like this AT+EGMR=1,7,"358429063123457"

Then put a space in between AT and + so it appears like this AT +EGMR=1,7,"358429063123457"

then press sendAT command.

A message should pop up saying "At command is msent".

After that toggle your phones's airplane mode on then off.

Your imei should have changed *#06# to check.

Note!!!  I strongly advice you copy your phones original imei before changing

Disclaimer : Changing of Imei is illegal in some countries and NAIRABIT will not be held responsible for any misfortune that may befall anyone who decides to change his/her imei
