Its a known fact that  all latest DSTV decoders are high definition (HD) satellite TV receivers and has has been customized by the MultiChoice  to receive only DSTV channels, making DSTV customers throw their DSTV decoder aside whenever they don’t have enough cash to  subscribe to even the cheapest DSTV bouquet.


However,  DSTV only offers just 3 uninteresting  free channels when your subscription expires, but worry no more because today I am going to show you how to make use of any DSTV HD decoders that has not been in use because of  inability to pay for DSTV packages; you will be able to track any free to air channel with your DSTV decoders after reading this article. How to Track Any Free to Air Channels On DSTV HD Decoders

First make sure you have tracked the free to air satellite you want to watch, they include TSTV, Nigcomsat, Media 7/ Multitv/Joy TV, amongst others, the choice is yours and also depends on you dish size. 60cm or 90cm dish is ok for the above mention free to air satellite. After tracking, follow these step below;

- Remove the ‘LNB in’ cable at the back of the DSTV decoder.
- Switch ON the decoder and ignore the message on the TV screen telling you ‘there is no signal’.
- Press the DSTV/MENU/Blue button on the decoder’s remote controller.
- While on the menu, go to ‘SETTINGS’.

- Select ‘SATELLITE SETTING’.
- Choose ‘ADDITIONAL NETWORKS’.
- Select ‘NETWORK 1’.
- Change ‘Enable Network’ to ‘YES’.
- Now you will notice that other information in the network 1 window is editable.
- Now Go to frequency and input the free to air satellite TV frequency you want to track.
- Move over to symbol rate and input the symbol rate digits.
- Change the polarization to that of the satellite you want to track.
- Go to the satellite dish and track for the signal.
- After you must have received the signal; select ‘SCAN THIS’.

- Kindly Wait for the scanning to complete.
- Upon the completion of the scanning; press ‘221’ on the remote controller.
- Press and go to the channel ‘GRID’ and you will see the free to air channels added to the list.
- Now Select the channel you want to watch and enjoy.

You can use Disecq Switch with DSTV decoder, however , you could only view one satellite which should connected in Disecq 1 or A. Any satellite Connect in Disecq B,C,D or 2,3,4, would not be picked up by the DSTV decoder
